Downton Abbey tea party

The Lawrence County Museum of History had a tea on Sunday, Jan. 4, 2015, to kick off the fifth season of the popular PBS British television series "Downton Abbey."

Many of the tea party guests came dressed in period fashions. The servers (better known as the footmen) were dressed in formal attire. Several types of tea were served, and scones, shortbread cookies, petit fours, finger sandwiches and fresh fruit were provided by Lawanna Morris and Becky Buher.

Following the tea, a screening of an episode from the 2014 season was shown. As guests departed to go home to watch the Downton Abbey 2015 season premier, many said they had a wonderful time and hoped the museum would host similar events..
