Membership

Our Mission—The Lawrence County Museum of History and Edward L. Hutton Research Library exhibits and collections are dedicated to engage, inspire, educate, entertain and preserve objects of lasting interest for current and future generations to enjoy.

Membership in the Lawrence County Historical and Genealogical Society has many exciting benefits. Foremost is knowledge that, as a member, you are playing an active role in The Lawrence County Museum of History and Edward L. Hutton Research Library and in promoting Lawrence County's heritage, and you are invested in preserving our history for generations to come. Your Lawrence County Museum and Research Library is a non-profit organization; therefore, your active membership and donations of time, expertise and funds are essential to continued operations.

Individual ($25/year)
Family ($50/year)—
One or two adults in the same household, plus their dependent children and grandchildren under 18.
Student ($10/year)
—Available with a valid student ID.

  • Monthly Historical and Genealogical Society meetings -- Includes speaker and business meeting

  • Quarterly Newsletter, The Seedling Patch, can be sent digitally and/or in print form  

  • Membership terms and dues

    Memberships are valid for one year (January 1st - December 31st)

    Dues are payable upon joining and annually thereafter

    Reminders of due payment will be sent via the Seedling Patch fall newsletter

Benefactors: Benefactors are people who donate at least $1,000 in monetary or “in-kind” 

  • Lifetime membership

  • Name engraved on paving stone (4” x 8”)

  • Name on Benefactor Plaque inside the museum

  • Voting privileges

  • The Seedling Patch quarterly newsletter

  • Invitation to Yearly Benefactor Celebration

Categories
Note: Donations will be cumulative, allowing you to rise to a higher category. Advancement will be noted on the plaques and at the yearly celebration.

  • $1,000 - $2,499

  • $2,500 - $4,999

  • $5,000 - $9,999

  • $10,000 or more

Members and Benefactors are encouraged to: Support the museum’s mission and programs, Promote the museum within the community, Respect museum property and exhibits

The Historical and Genealogical Society Meets the second Monday of each month— free and open to all

6:30 p.m.—Business meeting
7:00 p.m.—Topical presentations—Speaker and topic changes each month
