BEDFORD — Phillip Harold Mitchell, 80, of Bedford, passed away at 10:37 pm on Thursday, August 17, 2023, at I.U. Health Bloomington Hospital. Born January 20, 1943, in Pensacola, FL, he was the son of Harold and Clarice (Hitchcock) Mitchell. He married Judy Faubion on July 5, 1963, and she survives. He was an engineer at General Motors for over 45 years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, the Bedford Lions Club, and served on the Lawrence Co. Museum Board.
Survivors include his wife, Judy, of Bedford; children, Kimberly Renee Ray and husband, Kyle, of Bedford; Philip Scott Mitchell and wife, Barbara, of Springville; five grandchildren, Kaitlyn Mitchell and fiancé, Matt Creeron, of Charleston, SC, Caleb Ray and wife, Avery, of Colorado Springs, CO, Lauren Ingoglia and husband, Niko, of Chicago, IL, Eli Ray, of Bedford, Molly Mitchell of Chicago, IL; a sister Janice Bedwell and husband, Denny, of Carbon, IN; a brother-in-law, Larry Faubion, of Heltonville; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Mike Mitchell and his wife, Donna; a brother-in-law, Jerry Faubion; his father and mother-in-law, Clarel and Zoretta Faubion.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am on Tuesday, August 22 in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Pastors Jason Filler and Lee Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Gilgal Cemetery in Heltonville. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Monday, August 21 st at the Day & Carter Mortuary. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Lions Club Ramp Building Fund, Bedford First Baptist Church, or the Lawrence Co. Museum.
