***** Vincennes Tract Line: Informational handouts are available at the Lawrence County Museum and the Lawrence County Tourism office. The informational handout featuring Lawrence County along the northern boundary of the 1803 Vincennes Tract Line, the first Indian cession obtained by Governor William Henry Harrison in the Indiana Territory.
Proposed Events—dates are to be determined (TBD):
• Time Capsule: Opening a Bicentennial time capsule in Mitchell City Park that was buried in 1976.
• Display of County History Timeline Banners:
Two 10’ Lawrence County history banners will be created to add additional information.
The first banner would feature Native Americans and the prehistory of Lawrence County.
The second banner would feature what has happened in the county since 2024. The banners cost about $100-200 each.
• Lawrence County Revolutionary War Soldiers and Patriots Resource Book – Using information gathered by Katie Suns and others to create a soldiers and patriots. Make information available at the Hutton Research Library and available to all Lawrence County Schools.
• Historic Markers: Publicize county history and the historic markers that are already in the county
